Reflection -

In-class AudioTool and Adobe Premiere Pro learning  -

In class today, we explored the Adobe Premiere Pro to assemble and edit the video clips. We used Dr. Jacoby's prerecorded Acapella videos to learn how to do cropping, line up the tracks and looping. It took a while for me to slowly sort out the process, but I got it working eventually.

AudioTool.com was down for most of the class time. Even though we did not get to explore the web app with sound project as much as we anticipated, we got to go through some basic knowledge at the end of the class. We explored the soundboard, Tr808 Drum-computer, and Tb303 Bassline Synthesizer. We used the Rapper's Delight PDF file on D2L to create the tracks for the bass line and rhythm part. I was honestly pretty lost, but manage to eventually figured out the gist of it later in the afternoon.

AudioTool and Premiere Pro Education Application

AudioTool and Premiere Pro is a little more complicated than Soundtrap and GarageBand. For students to learn and operate these web apps will need to be one app per unit over 5 to 6 lessons in the general music classroom setting. Just like Soundtrap web app, AudioTool and Premiere Pro are great ways to introduce the editing side of music-making to students and broaden their view of music-making. Sound engineering is just as important as instrumental performance in music-making.

AudioTool is a fun interface for students to learn the recording software with the hardware images. The ability to record loops and collaborate with others can help grouping students to produce a project easier and more conveniently. Students can also collaborate on the web app to create projects together. Teachers can also utilize this app for recording tracks and needed music arrangements for musicals or lessons supplement.

Premiere Pro has a lot to offer and is a professional tool. It will need a lot more time for teachers to learn and operate this software. However, for music education, teachers can learn to use this software in a basic manner that they will be able to edit or assemble the clips for presentation and music lesson materials. This web app will be more suitable for high school students to get their hands on, as it's more complex to operate. But for more tech-savvy students, they can learn to operate this and help teachers and schools to edit a needed project, like school musical or promotional materials.

Technology in music teaching is becoming more imperative as our society continue to move many things in life digitally. Due to the pandemic, the ability to teach virtually, run the class with technology, and keeping students engaged seems to be good quality music teachers need to develop and possess.

Just like it was written in the article I found from researching for some information about music education application on AudioTool and Premiere Pro, teachers can stimulate students' musical creativity by using technology and providing them a venue to showcase it in the music class.

"Now more than ever, music technology has the transformative power to strengthen our music classrooms and deepen student educational experiences. With the various district initiatives it can at times be overwhelming to keep up with the latest tech trends and keep the focus on music learning outcomes. By using technology to help students create, educators can deepen student understanding in all facets of music and provide a venue to showcase musical creativity."
